PRINCIPLES & VALUES

The Policies and Good Practice of Ansacare Fostering Agency are underpinned by The Children Act 1989, The Care Standards Act 2000 and The Fostering Act 2002. We will strive to attain leadership status across London by delivering high standards of quality care for the children & young people placed with our Foster Carers.

It is recognised that a child's needs are best met within the setting of a nurturing family. The complexity of the child's/young person's family background is taken into account when making a placement, in order to ensure an appropriate match.

Our main priority is the child's welfare and their individual needs and circumstances. We aim to provide positive and consistent responses to these needs. We endeavour to match children with families who have a special interest, experience and commitment to caring for a looked after child. Our philosophy of approach is to show positive regard for the child's racial, religious, linguistic, cultural needs and their sexuality. The individual child's needs, wishes, feelings, abilities and inherent potential, are paramount and are taken into account in relation to placement planning and provision.

Children and young people are placed in foster care for a wide variety of reasons. We recognise the need to offer consistently high standards of care in a variety of settings. This will include the promotion of mutual support, diverse choice of placements, rehabilitation, and preparation for independence and integration in the local community.
